On a dark Bamba Galle-road, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of kothoos, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I heard a deafening noise
My nose grew heavy and my tummy grew dim
I had to stop for the night
There he stood in the doorway;
With a kapati smile
And I was thinking to myself,
’this could be heaven or this could be hell’
Then he took up two blades and started chopping
There were voices down the corridor,
I thought I heard them say...
Welcome to the hotel Pilawoos
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely face
Plenty of Cheese Kothu at the hotel Pilawoos
Any time of year, you can find it here
So I called up the waiter,
’please bring me a coca cola’
He said, ’we haven’t had that spirit here since nineteen sixty nine’
And still those voices are calling from far away,
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say...
Welcome to the hotel Pilawoos
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely face
They rocking it up at the hotel Pilawoos
What a nice surprise, bring your all machans
Chopped roti on the corner,
The roasted chicken on the shelf
And he said ’we are all just prisoners here, of our own device’
Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
’relax,’ said the night man,
We cant let you go
You wash some dishes,
B'coz you can't pay the bill!
